Welcome to our FAQ, where you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions.
Do you rent mountain bikes by the day/for several days?
Yes, the Swiss Mountain Bike School can easily provide you with rental mountain bikes thanks to our many partners.
Do we need to bring a picnic for the outing?
This is done on a case-by-case basis according to the client's preferences. We will be able to find a good restaurant or a nice picnic spot in any case.
Is my reservation refundable if it is cancelled due to bad weather or another reason?
Generally, muddy or snowy conditions or bad weather are not a valid reason for cancellation by the client. A cancellation is only justified if the risk is too high for the clients. In this case, no fees apply to either party, and the lesson or tour is rescheduled for a later date.
In case of cancellation by the client, cancellation fees apply:
In case of cancellation 30 to 3 days before the departure: 50% of the total cost will be charged
In case of cancellation 72 hours or less before the departure: 100% of the total cost will be charged
If a multi-day trip is canceled 90 days or less before the start date, the deposit and balance will only be refunded if the space can be filled by another customer.
What is the difference between DH, enduro and XC mountain biking?
DH stands for "downhill" and consists solely of descending mountain bike trails, generally on the tracks of a bike park, using the chairlifts for the ascent. The mountain bikes used have a geometry designed exclusively for downhill riding.
Enduro riding combines short climbs with descents on footpaths outside of bike parks, using chairlifts or other public transport for the ascent. The mountain bikes used have a geometry designed for downhill riding but allow for comfortable pedaling on the climbs.
XC stands for "cross country" and is practiced without ski lifts or public transport. The mountain bikes used have a geometry optimized for climbing performance while providing sufficient comfort for descending on footpaths.

Yes, helmets are mandatory for all activities offered by the Swiss Mountain Bike School.
Are knee pads mandatory for my course with the Swiss Mountain Bike School?
Knee pads are optional for guided rides and enduro mountain biking, but highly recommended, as falls can happen on descents. Knee pads are mandatory for downhill mountain biking lessons in a bike park.
Do you handle mountain bike repairs?
ESV does not specialize in mountain bike repair and mechanics, but our instructors are qualified to carry out repairs during the outing in case of mechanical incidents hindering its smooth running.
Do you sell mountain biking equipment/accessories?
We do not sell mountain bike equipment or accessories, but we can easily advise you and redirect you to our partners.
Can I book a course at the Swiss Mountain Bike School at times other than those indicated on your website?
Yes, that's possible. However, if the booking covers a time slot extending into both the morning and afternoon, the prices will be the same as for a full day. Regarding the start and end times for flight lessons, we will be limited by the operating hours of the resort where the lesson takes place. As for the start and end times for guided tours, these remain flexible and will be determined on a case-by-case basis by the guide.
Can you guide and give flying lessons during the winter?
ESV operates year-round, but it's clear that weather conditions during certain periods of winter don't allow mountain biking in the same locations as during the summer. Our experience shows that current winters allow us to practice mountain biking very regularly below a certain altitude, throughout the year. Mountain biking on snow is also possible with an instructor and can even be very fun. As this isn't our main activity, please contact the Swiss Mountain Bike School for more information.
